Alternatives to discontinued garden paving
Town & Country Paving were always acknowledged as innovators in the field of reproduction paving, and produced products that over 30 years later, very few manufacturers have come close to.
The business was established in 1982 by Edwin Clifford (Eddie) , and introduced the very best Yorkstone Flag that the World had ever seen, thanks to meticulous attention to detail, and groundbreaking moulding techniques.
In 1994 John Clifford, (Eddie’s nephew) joined the business, and Town & Country went from strength to strength, introducing some superb replica flagstone products such as Olde London York, a reproduction reclaimed York stone flag, followed closely by a superb range of Antique Terracotta Tile reproductions. In 1994 “The Secret Garden Collection from Town & Country Paving” was introduced, offering a complete range fro traditional garden design.
Town & Country Paving was always groundbreaking and innovative, but was sadly sold to and immediately dismantled by Stonemarket Limited, (a Marshalls company), almost 20 years ago.
They were located at Unit 10, Shublands Nurseries, Mayflower Way, Off Roundstone Lane, Angmering, Near Littlehampton, West Sussex, BN16 4AT from 1982 until 2000. Their telephone number was 01903 776297 – They never had a website address, as they ceased trading before it was essential! They also had small production facilities at the old Pulborough Concrete Works, and at Loxwood.
In 1997, John joined his Father’s business, Westminster Stone, in Shropshire, where they continued to manufacture Town & Country Paving products under license. A business was set up to distribute the licensed product, called Town & Country Paving (North West) Limited, and Westminster Stone simultaneously started to develop their own products to the range too. Around the time of the takeover by Stonemarket, Westminster Stone was no longer able to offer any licensed Town and Country Paving products, and Westminster Stone fully launched their now fully developed ‘equivalent’ range.
Westminster Stone products have always been manufactured to the same exacting standards that Eddie Clifford always insisted on, and Westminster Stone, now in their 30th year have become market leaders in terms of quality, authenticity, and accuracy of reproduction in the UK.
If you’re searching for Town and Country Paving today, look no further than Westminster Stone for what is without doubt the closest equivalent. The product range has been painstakingly developed by John Clifford who was involved in every aspect of Town & Country’s, and the same techniques have been adopted where production, quality, colours and hues are concerned.
