Westminster Stone has worked with Alitex for over 13 years providing paving for RHS shows such as Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court. This year, Alitex won another 5 stars for their beautiful trade stand, styled by The Pig and featuring garden paving from one of our NEW National Trust paving ranges and one of our best-selling stonecast products - Yorkstone Paving Slabs. Here's the lowdown on this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 stand and what stood out for us...

Outside the Greenhouses

When first approaching the stand this year we were met with beautiful corten steel metal railings from Stark & Greensmith in their new La Vie En Rose design - specifically made for Chelsea. This led to two large kitchen garden plots either side of the bespoke greenhouse, featuring vegetables grown and used by The Pig Hotels. These beds were filled with wonderful crops such as the fascinating Egyptian Walking Onions, salad burnet and Crimson Flowered Broan Beans. The Agastache in metal planters caused discussion as the leaves looked initially very similar to nettles but they were infact free from stings and part of the mint family with a slightly anise flavour.

Surrounding both the bespoke and the Mottisfont greenhouse was our new National Trust Mompesson Porcelain Paving in Gold, the colour and detailing of this porcelain gave a real sunny and warm welcome to visitors and it complemented the array of greenery perfectly.

The Bespoke Greenhouse: Paving Inspiration

Inside one of Alitex's largest bespoke greenhouses was a delight for the senses. This sunfilled space oozed beauty and sophistication while still staying true to its roots of being a space to grow. The main area featured a long table filled with beautiful crockery and elegant touches inspired by The Pig, it was incredibly inviting and provided the most ambient space for a social gathering. on the length of the far wall was a brick-built raised bed filled with tomato plants, adding a wonderful scent and another useful feature. This multifunctional greenhouse also had a dedicated reading nook at the far end with a statement lamp - perfect for cosying up in -whatever time of day or year! Our Stonecast Yorkstone Paving Slabs graced the inside of this magical space with the signature colouring and texture tying in perfectly with the interior aesthetics provided by The Pig. All whilst keeping it functional with heavy footfall and mixed weather conditions as the week went on. The Yorkstone Paving Slabs were low maintenance, got better with time and were a firm favourite amongst the staff and visitors.

To the left of the bespoke greenhouse was a cleverly partitioned room providing an area that can be closed off to provide more effective heating for early sowing and propagating. It was set out with propagators and a potting area making it incredibly functional yet still beautiful. This space was laid with our trusty Brick Pavers from our National Trust Collection. A firm favourite at every Chelsea Flower Show we have been a part of. These provide an ideal look and function for an area dedicated to growing and sowing crops.

The Alitex stand at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 was a true masterpiece, showcasing not only stunning design and delicious homegrown produce, but also the power of beautiful paving to elevate any space. From the welcoming warmth of the National Trust Mompesson Porcelain Paving to the timeless functionality of the Yorkstone Slabs, Westminster Stone products provided the perfect foundation for this award-winning display.
